DAY 1.
27th May 2019 - Monday- SOFIA

Arrival at SOFIA International Meet and transfer to your Hotel Budapest 4* or similar. Check in and time for refreshing after long journey. After 15:00pm sightseeing Panorama Tour of the Capital which includes visits to the Rotunda of St. George (4th century), National Archaeological Museum, National Theatre, Russian Church of St. Nicholas, Parliament Square, St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral with the most valuable collection of icons, visit to the Boyana Church (included in UNESCO list) which consists of three buildings. The Eastern Church was built in the 10th century, and then enlarged at the beginning of the 13th century by Sebastocrator Kaloyan, who ordered a second two story building to be erected next to it. The frescoes in this second church, painted in 1259, make it one of the most important collections of medieval paintings. The ensemble is completed by a third church, built at the beginning of the 19th century. This site is one of the most complete and perfectly preserved monuments of East European medieval art. Welcome dinner and glass of wine at nearby traditional restaurant “Vodenitzata”, with folk entertainment. Return to the Hotel.

DAY 2.
29th May 2019 - Wednesday

After breakfast, departure to VelikoTurnovo. On the way we will stop for wine tasting and lunch at one of the most famous wineries in Bulgaria. Upon arrival at VelikoTurnovo, we will check into your Hotel 4* Time to rest. The afternoon we will visit one of the most authentic villas - Arbanassi and the house of Constanceiliev that has a severe appearance as a fortress but inside are closed beautiful gardens. An interesting site is the church of “Birth of Jesus Christ” that owns more than 3500 Images and Scenes of the New Testament. Departure to the city of VelikoTurnovo and travel through one of the oldest towns in Bulgaria founded in 4000 BC. It is considered heiress of a Thracian prehistoric millennial culture. In the year of 1185 the town became the most important centre of the insurrection against the Byzantines and then became the third capital of the medieval Bulgarian State. During the 12th and 14th centuries it was a solid fortress as well as the most important centre of political, cultural, and religious life. We will visit the Royal Hill of Tsarevets and the Fortress and stroll through the medieval craft market. Optional: Sound and Light Show’ (VelikoTurnovo). Visit to the unique performance of ‘Sound and Light’ show in VelikoTurnovo, reproducing the glorious and tragic history of the second Bulgarian Empire. The show is held for minimum of 30 participants if the weather permits (it is not held in case of heavy rain or storm). The show is upon request. Individual tourists (or small groups) can join only in case there had been a group request for the specific day. Price per person - $15. Overnight stay in VelikoTurnovo.

DAY 3.
30th May 2019 - Thursday

Breakfast. Departure to the first capital of the Bulgarian Kingdom - Pliska and the remains of the fortification. Later, visit to the Madara Rider (included in the list of UNESCO). Arrive in Varna in the afternoon which is the third Bulgarian city in terms of its size and importance. Overnight stay in Varna.

DAY 4.
31st May 2019 - Friday

After breakfast departure and lunch on the way to the city of Nessebar. The Old Town occupies a peninsula in the middle of the sea. It is famous with more than 41 churches, the oldest of which dates from the fifth century. It is considered that this city possesses the best beaches in Bulgaria. It was also Thracian settlement before BE, a Greek colony, and the remains of the Hellenistic period include an acropolis, the temple of Apollo and a canvas of the Thracian fortifications. There are medieval remains of the Metropolis and the Fortress dated to that period. Amongst the countless churches stands St Stephen’s Church, whose interior is covered with fabulous frescoes dating back to the 16th century. Rest of the afternoon is at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay in Nessebar.

DAY 5.
1st June 2019 - Saturday

Breakfast. Leisure time until lunch time. After late lunch we will depart to the city of Stara Zagora and arriving here we will visit Neolithic Dwelling Museum. Check in to your Hotel 4* Leisure time and dinner. On our way visit the replica of the famous Thracian Tomb of Kazanluk. In the afternoon we will check in at the hotel in Kazanluk. Free time until dinner. Overnight stay in Stara Zagora.

DAY 6.
2nd June 2019 - Sunday
Breakfast and early departure with bus to the rose plantations, a few kilometres outside Kazanluk. On your way on both sides of the road you would see people picking the petals of the flowers. The tourists participate in the collection of roses - each receives a basket of cardboard in which he/she puts the petals in. The ritual is accompanied by songs and folk dances. Later follows a visit to a factory producing rose oil. Demonstration of the process of distillation, tasting of ethereal essences, tasting of the traditional Bulgarian “banitza”, liqueurs, and jams of roses. At lunch time we attend a carnival procession in the central street of Kazanluk, where all the people are gathered to celebrate the festival. BBQ lunch with folk program after which we depart to the city of Plovdiv. Arriving in Plovdiv we will have a short pedestrian visit to the Old Town. Here tourists can stroll through narrow alleys, visit the ruins of the walls and the Roman Theatre, as well as picturesque 17th and 18th century houses, the Church of Saints Constantine and Helene, the Ethnographic Museum, the Hindliyan Museum Houses, and Balabanov. Tickets are included for the Roman Theatre and the Ethnographic Museum.Dinner.Overnight stay in Plovdiv.

DAY 7.
3rd June 2019- Monday
Plovdiv “City of the seven hills’’. Plovdiv is the oldest city in Europe still existing today. It was called Philippopolis in the IV century B.C. in honor of King Philip II of Macedonia. Today Plovdiv is a cultural centre of Bulgaria and selected as European Capital of Culture for 2019. Breakfast at the hotel. City tour to the old town, built in 4th century BC from King Philip Macedonia, with the Ethnographical Stadium museum, the oldest church “St. Constantine and Helena” ,will enjoy a morning city tour (partly on foot), including a visit to the Plovdiv's Synagogue. Some 300 Ladino speaking families expelled from Spain, settled here in the 16th century. The Plovdiv community you was the first to form a Zionist association. Close to the Synagogue, in a park where the Jewish Quarter started, there is a monument erected by local Jews after the fall of communism, bearing the inscription:”To all who helped to save us on 10 March, 1943. From the grateful Jewish Community of Plovdiv". Meet with Jewish community in Plovdiv. Proceed with a tour of the Old Town, the 2000 years old Roman Theatre, the Byzantine and mediaeval fortifications. Walk along the narrow cobbled streets and admire the silence a in the afternoon drive to the Batchkovo Monastery, founded in the 11th century. Every March 9, Jews perform a most unorthodox ceremony. Here the Patriarchs Cyril and Stefan lie buried. The two clerics played major role in the dramatic days of May 1943, declaring the doors of every Christian church and monastery open to all Jews. After a Bulgarian Orthodox mass for the souls of the two clerics, the Jews say Kaddish for them, paying tribute to their countrymen for saving Bulgaria’s Jewish population from the Nazi camps. and tranquillity of this historic town. DAY 8.
4th June 2019 – Thursday
Breakfast . Check out and transfer to Perperikon. The ancient Thracian city of Perperikon is located in the Eastern Rhodopes, 15 km northeast of the present day town of Kardzhal. Perperikon is the largest megalith ensemble in the Balkans, located in the Eastern Rhodopes, at the foot of the hill and the gold-bearing Perpereshka River who flows near it. There is a great history here that is older than Egyptians. We will visit Historical Museum This includes pre-historic tools and ceramics from the Thracian cities of Perperikon and Tatul, Christian icons and ethnographic exhibits. It is located in the old konak (the Turkish town-hall built around 1870) with its period exterior architecture. 5 km from Kardzhali, near the village of Zimzelen, is a small bad lands, where a series of white pillars have eroded out of the volcanic tuff which are referred to as the "Kardzhali Pyramids". Ensembles have been given names based on resemblances. One is known as "The Mushrooms" and another as the "Stone Wedding". Check in at the Hotel 4*. Dinner and Overnight.

DAY 9.
5th June 2019 - Wednesday
After breakfast the route continues towards the Monastery of Rila, declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. It is the largest and most important of the 120 monasteries in Bulgaria. It has the shape of a fortress with 2 entrances. It was founded at the beginning of the tenth century by the hermit Ivan. At that time they had remained only as witnesses to the Tower of Crelio and the Monastery Kitchen. The visit to the Monastery begins with the Museum where ancient icons, gospels, silver relics, vaults, objects of worship, etc. are exposed. Afternoon arrival in Sofia and checking in at the hotel. Rest and free afternoon. In the evening get ready for our farewell dinner at a traditional restaurant with entertainment. After the dinner some of you may choose to embark on a tour of night life HOT spots of the capital. Overnight stay in Sofia.

DAY 10.
6th June 2019 - Thursday
Breakfast. We will visit famous for its original structure and unique frescoes, the Synagogue- the largest Sephardic Synagogue on the Balkan Peninsula and museum. Bulgarian Jews like to point out that Jews arrived in the country as early as the second century C.E., long before the proto Bulgarians. Although small, this museum will tell you the long history of Bulgarian Jews. Proceed with a visit to the Basilica Haga Sophia. On the north side of the building you will see a monument, dedicated to the saving of Bulgarian Jews in World War II. Bulgaria, although part of the Hitler’s coalition, managed to rescue about 48,000 Bulgarian Jews from sending to the concentration camps those who wish may attend Shabbat services at the Synagogue and meet with the Jewish community at BeitHa’am .Free time to explore and shop at Sofia’s fashionable malls where you will find superb prices and bargains of brand name designers. Gala dinner. Return to hotel.

DAY 11.
7th June 2019 - Friday

Martin is located in the heart of the Rhodope Mountains at 1150 meters above the sea level. It is a typical Bulgarian mountain municipality and sits astride a river by the same name. Pamporovo.

Rozigal Tours is not responsible for the behavior or personality of any tour member, not is it responsible for group dynamics, group interaction, or incompatibility of tour members. Rozigal Tours shall not be responsible for the removal of any individual from the tour under any circumstances.
Trip cancellation insurance is strongly recommended, no refunds other than those expressly provided for in writing, shall be made for any trip cancellation for any reason, including health related reasons. Due to security reasons, under no circumstances can a trip be sold, transferred, or assigned to another person. There can be no name changes for tour members or any substitution by or for a tour member.
In addition to the matters contained herein, all trips are also subject to the terms and conditions of the trip flyer. The issuance or acceptance of tickets and travel documents shall be deemed to be an acceptance of all terms of this document. The above terms also apply to individual, custom trips.
